What is a French Bulldog?

A French bulldog is a small breed of domestic dog, known for its muscular build, large bat ears, and adorable squashed face. This breed, often called 'Frenchie,' is notable for its affectionate and gentle nature, making it an excellent companion animal. Its origins can be traced back to England, where lace makers bred them as miniature bulldogs. They were taken to France in the 1800s, hence the name French bulldog.

Physical Characteristics of a French Bulldog

The French bulldog typically weighs between 16 to 28 pounds, standing at approximately 11 to 12 inches tall at the shoulder. Their muscular body contrasts with their baby-like face, defined by a short snout and large, upward-facing ears. They have a short, sleek coat which comes in a range of colours, including brindle, fawn, white, and combinations of these.
